Each room in
undergraduate housing has an in-room recycling bin to help make it
easier to recycle your paper and bottles and cans. If yours is lost or
damaged, please contact your Housing
Supervisor. At this time, these bins are not available to students living in graduate housing.

Instructions for use:
- Rinse plastic
bottles. Remove lids and place them in the garbage
- Collect recyclables in your bin
- Carry your bin
to the large green carts located outside
- Sort your
recyclables into three categories:
- bottles and
cans
- paper
- corrugated
cardboard

Acceptable Materials:
- all plastics #1 PETE and
#2 HDPE
- plastic bottles #1-7
- aluminum cans
- aluminum foil
- tin cans
- glass bottles and jars
- aseptic
containers (e.g. milk or juice cartons, soymilk containers)
- mixed paper:
white paper, newspaper, colored
paper, paperboard (e.g. cereal boxes)
- corrugated
cardboard
- plastic bags

- check the bottom of plastic containers for a
recycling logo with the plastic number inside. Don't forget to recycle
your:
- shampoo bottles
- laundry detergent bottles
- plastic bags go in the paper recycling bin (so that they
will stay dry)
- brown paper bags go with the corrugated cardboard
- rinse out all containers
- less mess
- less risk of ants
- less excess weight
- do not recycle paper or cardboard with food or grease
on it
- food and grease contaminates the paper and reduces
the quality of recycled products made from it
- empty your blue bin often to avoid the risk of pests
