Recycling and Food Waste Composting Services for Special Events on the Stanford University Campus

| SPECIAL EVENTS | ||||||||||||
| As of September 1, 2007, to reduce waste from special events of all sizes on campus, the University has established a special event recycling policy that requires events that serve beverages in bottles and cans (plastic bottles, glass bottles, aluminum cans), to order bottle and can recycling bins and garbage bins in equal number and place them next to each other. Each event must make attendees aware of the recycling program. It is proven that when recycling bins and garbage bins are located next to each other, more people will chose to recycle. Events are also encouraged to reduce waste and recycle paper and cardboard as well as compost food and compostable materials.
