Recycling Websites for Kids

Kids Recycle!
DOC's Recycle Rex
Looking for fun recycling activities for a school group or your own children? Check out the Department of Conservation Division of Recycling’s webpage for educators and children. Using Recycle Rex as their spokesdinosaur the site promotes recycle, reduce, reuse and close the loop.There are three coloring activities, four crafts including how to make a bird feeder out of plastic bottles, and games including crossword puzzles, scrambles, perplexers, and secret codes. There is a 26-page activity booklet that would be great for long travel trips. Kids can become members of Recycle Rex’s RecyCool Club and learn more about recycling and the environment and receive the RecyCool Planet newsletter. The website has old newsletters with fun facts, graphics, and activities about the recycling process. Recycle Rex says, “By recycling and then buying recycled products for home, school and play, we can really make a difference.”


USEPA's Recycle City
Recycle City is a virtual tour of an imaginery town that has waste problems. Travel around Recycle City and find out what folks there are doing to reduce waste and make the environment better. Kids can explore Recycle City, play the Dumptown Game, or create their own Recycle City scavenger hunt. When children leave this site they will know much more about what they can do to help protect the environment.


USEPA's Environmental Explorers' Club
On this page, kids can explore ways to reduce the amount of garbage they throw away. It has an art, game and science room.


Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Environmental Education for Kids
On this page, kids can learn about recycling and composting. It includes activities for making bird feeders from clean food packaging, setting up a worm bin for food waste and recipes for composting.


Roscoe's Recycling Room
Fun games, recyclings facts, and educational activities. This interactive Web site is designed by the Steel Recycling Institute. It teaches children about the importance of steel recycling and how our every day actions affect the use of natural resources and energy.


TAPPI's World of Paper
This is a great site to learn about paper and papermaking. There are games and fun science projects.


Quest of the Ringleaders
A cyber adventure of the Ring Leader Recycling Program. By completing this game, kids can gain an understanding about current environmental problems as well as methods to decrease environmental degradation.


The Imagination Factory
This site is great for teaching children creative ways to recycle by making art.
