Why Recycle?
Recycling:
- Decreases volume of trash, which reduces the amount of money spent on burying waste in a landfill.
- Saves natural resources. New products are made from our recyclable waste!
- Reduces energy use as well as air and water pollution.
- Stanford has been recycling since the late 1970's.
- The State of California mandates that all cities and counties reach and sustain a 50% diversion rate from the landfill. Stanford is currently diverting 50% of its waste from the landfill.
Most of the recycling bins on campus are scheduled for once a week pickup. The collection day varies by building. Please
click here for a table of collection days.
Recycling collectors only pick up what is inside of the collection bins. If you
need extra service because of an office clean out, a special event, or an
unusual amount of recyclables, please submit a work order by clicking
here. If you have any questions about service, please call PSSI
at (650) 321-4236.
